Catherine Edmunds, Esq. is a business minded attorney who has spent her career helping companies achieve their business goals.
She started her practice at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, a top tier law firm, where she focused on providing services to growth companies in all stages of their life cycle, from formation to strategic exit. Her work in mergers and acquisitions and venture capital financing transactions, gave her a solid foundation in investment due diligence and securities transactions.
Catherine went on to gain “in-house” corporate experience as Assistant General Counsel to The Gladstone Companies, consisting of an umbrella of four public companies, two business development companies (NASDAQ tickers: GAIN and GLAD) and two real estate investment trusts (NASDAQ tickers: GOOD and LAND). During her time at The Gladstone Companies, she worked closely with the chief executive officer, presidents and chief financial officers in business contract negotiation, compliance, corporate governance, and investor relations matters, including review of press releases, slide decks and other investor outreach materials. She also served as lead company counsel in the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Gladstone Land.
Following her time with The Gladstone Companies, Catherine experienced a profound entrepreneurial desire to chart new territory by founding her own law firm. Edmunds Legal is dedicated to providing small and middle market businesses, entrepreneurs and investors with the same quality legal work they would expect to receive at a large law firm, in a friendly, individualized, educational and client centric environment. Her recent work has spanned many industries, including: technology; travel and leisure; clothing; food and beverage; consumer products; entertainment and software. She has also provided a wide variety of corporate services to clients including: contract negotiation and drafting; licensing and master services agreements; corporate formation; equity incentive plans; offer letters; consulting agreements; NDAs; SAFE financings; seed and venture capital financings; trademark advisory; investment and transactional due diligence; LLC operating agreements; sale or acquisition of businesses; and corporate governance advisory.
Catherine grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC, and received a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Virginia and her Juris Doctor from The University of Virginia School of Law. After spending a few years in the San Francisco Bay Area, she recently moved to San Diego to join her extended family. She enjoys pretending that she is a tourist in her relatively new home town, and helping her clients to succeed!
